Our History

Half a Century of Fighting
Socialism

'Socialism only works in two places: Heaven where they don't need it and hell where they already have it.'
- President Ronald Reagan

The Long Fight

A Timeline of Resistance

For over fifty years, CPAC has stood on the front line of the battle for the American idea — confronting socialism wherever it appears, in whatever mask it wears.

1964

The Movement Is Born

The first CPAC gathers a fledgling coalition of conservatives determined to push back against the rising tide of collectivism at home and Soviet communism abroad. The fight is declared.

1980s

Standing With Reagan

CPAC becomes a platform for the conservative resurgence, backing a President who calls the Soviet Union what it is — an Evil Empire — and wages the Cold War on the battlefield of ideas.

1990s

The Wall Falls, The Watch Continues

Socialism collapses across Eastern Europe, but CPAC warns that the ideology didn't die — it migrated into academia, bureaucracy, and the language of "fairness." The watch never stops.

2010s

A New Generation of Socialists

Openly socialist candidates gain office for the first time in generations. CPAC expands its mission: not just to oppose the left, but to teach a new generation why free markets, property, and liberty made America great.

Today

The Rise of Democrats and the DSA

The Democratic Party has embraced socialist policies, and the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) now holds real power in city councils, statehouses, and Congress. CPAC confronts this homegrown threat to liberty head-on, exposing the agenda and mobilizing patriots to stop it.

The Modern Threat

Socialism in the 21st Century

The Soviet Union fell, but the idea didn't die — it evolved. Today's socialism wears new masks: climate mandates, equity doctrine, and corporate activism. The goal is the same: central control over your life, your money, and your choices.

Socialism Spotlight

The Odebrecht Scandal

The Odebrecht scandal, the largest corruption scheme in modern history, laid bare the rot at the heart of Latin America's socialist political class. The Brazilian construction giant bribed presidents, lawmakers, and judges across a dozen countries, funneling nearly $800 million in kickbacks to secure public contracts funded by taxpayer money.

From Venezuela's Nicolás Maduro to Cuba's Raúl Castro and Peru's Ollanta Humala, the socialist leaders who promised to fight for the people instead enriched themselves while their nations crumbled. The scheme exposed what socialism always delivers: not equality, but a ruling elite looting the public treasury while ordinary citizens starve.

The Fight Has Hit Its Tipping Point.

We've been fighting this fight for decades. We're not about to stop now. Join us as we carry the principles of freedom forward for the next generation.
